Mamífero marino carnívoro (Orcinus orca) perteneciente al orden Cetáceos (Cetacea) de unos unos diez metros de longitud, complexión robusta y aletas largas, de color azul muy oscuro, prácticamente negro, por la parte superior y blanco por la inferior. Puede encontrarse prácticamente en todos los océanos del mundo aunque con clara preferencia de las fértiles aguas frías como las polares.
