A "geopolitical continent" consists of some parts of a "geographic continent" and their surrounding islands and archipelagos. This label is mostly based on history, economy and politics. There are six "geopolitical continents" in the world: Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, Oceania and Antarctica.
