During the French colonial period, "me Tây" was a derogatory term referring to a woman who has married a Western husband or "gold dug" the Westerners. In the 21st cent., this term refers to anybody, women and men alike, who craves the West. These people can't discern between right or wrong, they entice the Viets to do whatever the West does and consider it civilized.
