“וַיהוָה הֵטִיל רוּחַ גְּדוֹלָה אֶל הַיָּם וַיְהִי סַעַר גָּדוֹל בַּיָּם וְהָאֳנִיָּה חִשְּׁבָה לְהִשָּׁבֵר”

But the LORD hurled a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.

“אָמַר רַבִּי עֲקִיבָא, לֹא אָמְרוּ מַטִּילִין, אֶלָּא מַטִּיל.”

Said Rabbi Akiva, they did not say they pour, but rather one pours.

“דָּג טָמֵא מַשְׁרִיץ, דָּג טָהוֹר מֵטִיל בֵּיצִים.”

An impure fish spawns, a pure fish lays eggs.

“אָמַר לְהוֹ רַבִּי זְכַרְיָה יֹאמְרוּ מֵטִיל מוּם בַּקֳּדָשִׁים יֵהָרֵג”

Rabbi Zechariah said to them, They will say one who imposes a blemish on a sacrificial animal is to be killed!
