The principle of causation is another one of the elemental principles of Accounting. This principle states that events must be recognized when these become realized and not when the payment is received or given; in other words, they are caused when the product is sold or the service is performed, independently of whether the payment is received or not. It is understood that when the economic event becomes realized, this becomes an obligation or right subject to claim.
