At Christiania [today: Oslo], it is, as is customary, intended to celebrate the Seventeenth of May. A Committee hath been chosen for the ordering of the solemnities.

“Syttende Mai firades av den norska kolonien i Stockholm med stor middag på Grand hotell Royal, som dagen till ära smyckat sin festsal med norska flaggor och Det Norske Samfunds emblem.”

The Seventeenth of May was celebrated by the Norwegian colony in Stockholm with a grand dinner at the Grand Hôtel Royal, which, in honour of the day, had adorned its banquet hall with Norwegian flags and the emblem of the Norwegian Society

“Syttende mai, alltså Norges nationaldag, firas även i Sverige. I Stockholm gör den årliga marschen till Skansen att flera innerstadsbussar får ändra sina körvägar under dagen.”

The 17th of May, Norway's national day, is also celebrated in Sweden. In Stockholm, the annual march to Skansen means that several inner-city buses have to change their routes during the day.

“Unionen med Sverige upplöstes 1905 och sedan första bästa tillfälle (1906), har det norska kungaparet den syttende mai vinkat från Slottsbalkongen till det förbipasserande barnetåget.”

The union with Sweden was dissolved in 1905, and since the very next opportunity (1906), the Norwegian royal couple has, on the 17th of May, waved from the Palace Balcony to the passing children's parade.
