Määritelmät

1. In Finnish ministries, the highest official below a minister, appointed for the term of the minister, also called määräaikainen valtiosihteeri or ministerin valtiosihteeri to separate from the permanent secretaries of state.
2. In Finnish ulkoministeriö (“Ministry for Foreign affairs”) and valtiovarainministeriö (“Ministry of Finance”) the highest-ranking permanently employed official of the ministry. In other ministries similar post is called kansliapäällikkö.
3. A Secretary of State in the bureaucracy of another government, with the exception of the United States, the Secretary of State of which is normally called ulkoministeri (“Minister for Foreign Affairs”) in Finnish.
