Meaning of sad-cited | Babel Free

Adjective CEFR B2

Definitions

The feeling of being sad and excited at the same time, especially at the transition from an ending to a beginning.

Examples

“I’m really sad to see him go. I’m sad for the show. But I’m also excited, and I told Lennie that. I told him that I’m “sad-cited.” It’s tough. He’s a great guy and a great actor. I’m sad I won’t be learning from him as much. He’s an amazing actor, but you learn more about life and how to be a good person, the stuff not associated with acting, from him. He’s that kind of guy.”
““You know what I mean. Whenever you're in town in the back of your minds you're just thinking, "That statue. It's there. It's still there."” (whoops) “Yeah.” “And I'm madglad. That statue is the whole reason I'm here, and why I'm so sad-cited for all the wrong reasons to say that it should be noted -that in regards to the statue” “Hmm?” “There are very strong opinions on both sides. (whoops)””
“It’s still scary, and it’s still exciting, and you did it. Congrats, mama! Your baby is going to move mountains, and all of your feelings are absolutely valid. You are not alone. Let's celebrate together! Click to share this with all of the other sad-cited mamas out there this Fall. It’s not easy to let go, but it’s beautiful to watch your little (or big) person soar.”
“We have another grandchild who is about to be launched and I have such a mixture of feelings about it. I guess you could say I am “sad-cited.” I am sad to see my active grandparenting years come to an end (although they never really do), but so excited to see him live his next chapter.”
