1. to stop and take a rest (while traveling)
2. to take (a dog or other animal) outside for exercise (letting it run around freely) and urination/defecation
3. to let or bring prisoners, institutionalized patients, or the like outside (onto a yard or the like, for fresh air, exercise, etc.)
