  2. A softened negative response to a question or statement that seems plausible but is not factual.
  3. An agreement that the answer is negative.
  4. An agreement; theyeahfunctions as affirmation, while the “no” could be replaced by the phrase “don’t worry.”

“"I hope you weren't expecting us to finish it this week." "Yeah, no, that's fine — I figured it might not be that quick."”
