“After KGKO established the Dallas studio, representatives of the A. H. Belo Corp. approached the licensee of Station KGKO with a proposal to purchase a one-half interest in KGKO Broadcasting Co. for the purpose of operating KGKO in a manner similar to Stations WFAA-WBAP which were then operating with a single transmitter originating their broadcasts in intermitten periods 50 percent of the time from the WBAP studios in Fort Worth, and 50 percent of the time from the WFAA studios in Dallas. The proposal was accepted, and with the consent of the Commission on July 24, 1940, one-half control of KGKO was transferred to the Belo interests. Thereupon the separate KGKO studios in Fort Worth and Dallas were abandoned and KGKO has continuously since that time originated its broadcasts one-half the time from the WFAA studios in Dallas and one-half the time from the WBAP studios in Fort Worth, dovetailing with the intermitten times those studios are not in use by WFAA-WBAP.”
