A type of cryptic clue in which there is no wordplay and both halves of the clue define homonymous words.

Examples

“A less demanding example is given by "Lost, as a dog may be" (6) . This is a double-definition type with the answer ASTRAY.”
“It's a double definition! A word that is both a "Marvel hero" and a "morbid bet" is DEADPOOL.”
“Double definitions are always easier when you know some letters of the answer.”
