ชื่อสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยน้ำนมหลายสกุลในวงศ์ Muridae ขนาดเล็ก มีฟันแทะ อยู่ทั่วไปตามบ้านเรือนและในถิ่นธรรมชาติ มีหลายชนิด เช่น หนูพุกใหญ่ (Bandicota indica) หนูท้องขาว (Rattus rattus) บางชนิดเป็นพาหะนำโรค
