May [I] offer [my] blessings to you, Your Holiness the Pope, the possessor of excellent ecclesiastical virtues. I, on behalf of the Thai clergy, should like to express laud [and] delight on the occasion that you pay a visit to the Kingdom of Thailand... [This is] once again deemed a historically significant event which ought to be noted [and] recorded as an auspicious sign of the goodwill [and] amity that the Roman Catholic Church and the Thai Buddhist communities have extended towards each other in a firm, fair, and fine manner since the time of the Glorious Ayutthaya Kingdom... The arrival of yours on this occasion is thus not the coming of a new friend, but [it is] a visit of an old, true friend of the Thai people. The distance that [makes us] far from each other brings about no obstacle to [our] intimate harmony.

“พราหมณ์ทูลตอบ "อิ่มเรียบร้อยดี มหาบพิตร ตั้งแต่เกิดมาเพิ่งได้รับประทานอิ่มวันนี้"”

The brahmin made a reply, "Nicely [and] neatly full, Your Majesty. Since [I] was born to [this world], [I] have just been able to eat my fill today."

“พระสังฆราชาภังคยะสะกะโรจึงถวายพระพรว่า มหาบพิตรตรัสดังนี้ดุจดังอาตมาภาพเปนสมณลามกมีความฉันทาลำเอียง”

The high priest Phangkhayasakaro then replied as follows: "Your Majesty said like this as if [you thought that] I am a shameless priest full of bias [and] prejudice."
