“มาตรา ๒๘...ถ้าคู่สมรสก็ดี ผู้บุพการี กล่าวคือ บิดา มารดา ปู่ ย่า ตา ยาย ทวด ก็ดี ผู้สืบสันดาน กล่าวคือ ลูก หลาน เหลน ลื่อ ก็ดี ผู้ปกครองหรือผู้พิทักษ์ก็ดี ผู้ซึ่งปกครองดูแลบุคคลนั้นอยู่ก็ดี หรือพนักงานอัยการก็ดี ร้องขอต่อศาลให้สั่งให้บุคคลวิกลจริตผู้นั้นเป็นคนไร้ความสามารถ ศาลจะสั่งให้บุคคลวิกลจริตผู้นั้นเป็นคนไร้ความสามารถก็ได้”

Section 28...if the spouse; an ascendant, that is, the father, mother, paternal grandfather, paternal grandmother, maternal grandfather, maternal grandmother, [or] great-grandparent; a descendant, that is, a child, grandchild, great-grandchild, [or] great-great-grandchild; the guardian or custodian; the person who has charge of [or] takes care of such person [of unsound mind]; or a public prosecutor makes a request to the court for a ruling [declaring] such person of unsound mind to be an incompetent person, the court may rule that such person of unsound mind is an incompetent person.
