In 1984, news broke that the radio operator of the steamer Carpathia had died, one of the few who had not slept on that fateful night in 1912. For many of the lucky survivors, as they themselves often recalled, the horrific last moments of the Titanic and its victims have lingered in their minds throughout their lives.
