He accepted the price the Scottish king would pay Norway for the Hebrides, and gave him Orkney and Shetland too in surety for 60 thousand gold ducats; all this as dowry for Margaret, his daughter, who got married to the Scottish king James the Third. He did such without permission from the Council of Norway, and the islands were never given back.
