“hinc etiam apud Romanos Thalassio invocatur. cum enim in raptu Sabinarum plebeius quidam raptam pulcherrimam duceret, ne ei auferretur ab aliis, Thalassionis eam ducis nobilis esse simulavit, cuius nomine fuit puellae tuta virginitas.”
Because of this, "Thalassio" is also invoked amongst the Romans. When, during the rape of the Sabines, the plebeians were leading a certain captured beauty, they pretended she was of a noble leader, by whose name her virginity was safeguarded, so that others would not take her from Thalassius.
