“קניתי אתמול פיצה”

Yesterday I bought pizza.

“וַיִּקְנֵהוּ פּוֹטִיפַר סְרִיס פַּרְעֹה שַׂר הַטַּבָּחִים, אִישׁ מִצְרִי, מִיַּד הַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִים, אֲשֶׁר הוֹרִדֻהוּ שָׁמָּה”

Now Joseph had been brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, had bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there.

“היו מתקשרים אלי כמה שעות או לפעמים יום יומיים אחרי שהבנות הגיעו, ומבקשים שאני אגיע לדירה הזאת ואבחר את הבחורות שאני רוצה לקנות.”

They would call me a few hours or sometimes one, two days after the girls arrived, asking that I come to this apartment and pick the girls I wanted to buy.

“יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן פְּרַחְיָה אוֹמֵר, עֲשֵׂה לְךָ רַב, וּקְנֵה לְךָ חָבֵר, וֶהֱוֵי דָן אֶת כָּל הָאָדָם לְכַף זְכוּת:”

Joshua ben Perahiah used to say: appoint for thyself a teacher, and acquire for thyself a companion, and give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

“וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֖הוּ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר בָּר֤וּךְ אַבְרָם֙ לְאֵ֣ל עֶלְיֹ֔ון קֹנֵ֖ה שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃”

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

“אני לא קונה את הסיפור.”

I don't believe in the story. I'm not buying that story.
