“אָמַר רַב יְהוּדָה: ״עָקוּד״ עֲקֵידַת יָד וָרֶגֶל, כְּיִצְחָק בֶּן אַבְרָהָם.”
Rav Yehuda said: "aqud" means binding the forelimbs and legs, as with Isaac son of Abraham.
“אָמַר רַבִּי אָבָּהוּ: לָמָּה תּוֹקְעִין בַּשּׁוֹפָר שֶׁל אַיִל? אָמַר הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, תָּקְעוּ לְפָנַי בַּשּׁוֹפָר שֶׁל אַיִל, כְּדֵי שֶׁאֶזְכֹּר לָכֶם עֲקֵדַת יִצְחָק בֶּן אַבְרָהָם, וּמַעֲלֶה אֲנִי עֲלֵיכֶם כְּאִלּוּ עֲקַדְתֶּם עַצְמְכֶם לְפָנַי.”
Said Rabbi Abbahu: Why do we blast on the horn of a ram? The Holy Blessed One said, Blast before me on the horn of a ram, so that I remember for you the binding of Isaac son of Abraham, and I will merit it for you as if you bound yourseles before Me.
