Dead flies turn the perfumer’s ointment fetid and putrid;

Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You are troubling me by making me despised among the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites and Perizzites;..."

They said to them [Moses and Aaron], "May Hashem look upon you and judge you for making us detested [making our smell putrid] in the eyes of Pharao and his courtiers, so that he may put swords in their hands to slay us!

They put it at aside until morning as Moses had ordered, and it didn't smell foully and didn't have any maggots inside of it.
