What is the definition of a child? One who is not able to ride upon his father's shoulders, and to go up from Jerusalem to the mountain of the Temple. These are the words of the house of Shammai. “אֵיכָה יָבְשׁוּ בּוֹרוֹת הַמַּיִם / כִּיכָּר הַשּׁוּק רֵיקָה / וְאֵין פּוֹקֵד אֶת הַר הַבַּיִת / בָּעִיר הָעַתִּיקָה.”

How the cisterns have dried out / The marketplace is empty / And there is no one visiting the Temple Mount / In the Old City.

“חָזַרְנוּ אֶל בּוֹרוֹת הַמַּיִם / לַשּׁוּק וְלַכִּיכָּר / שׁוֹפָר קוֹרֵא בְּהַר הַבַּיִת / בָּעִיר הָעַתִּיקָה.”
