The Second Republic will hide nothing in her backyard and no longer try to put crowns on her head. She will look the way she really is. In the First Republic, reality and illusion were mixed up. A lone democracy in the Middle East, first with a military government and then with a military dictatorship; a darling of the free world but with the last colonialism in the world; an honored member of the family of nations that violates almost all international laws; does not annex the occupied territories in order to create the illusion of transience; boasts of the rule of law and the Supreme Court, but with a separate set of laws according to nationality; Jewish and democratic, but with a built-in, irreconcilable contradiction.
