This disadvantageous situation is clearly evident during scientific congresses, where only those whose home language is one of the official languages, can express themselves most freely. The expensive translation systems (simultaneous, summary, post-lecture) do not help: they slow down the natural pace of speech and the impact of linguistically direct discussions, and are of no use to those, whose home language is not one of the official languages.
