Meaning of your other left | Babel Free

Noun CEFR C1

Definitions

  1. Your right-hand side. (Used to correct oneself after saying "your left", having intended "your right".)
  2. Your left-hand side. (Used to correct another person who has been directed to move (or look, etc) to "your left" but has mistakenly moved right.)

Examples

“Ok maggots, when I tell you, you will face to the left. Do It! Your other left you silly shit! When I say go you will start off with your left foot and continue to march. Ready go!”
“"Your left, your left, your left, right, left. Your other left, knuckle-head." Anyone who has been through boot camp is likely to remember this sarcastic remark from a drill sergeant correcting a trainee who is out of step. "Your other left, knucklehead." (Admittedly, knucklehead is a euphemism.)”
