Meaning of cloth pad | Babel Free

Noun CEFR B2

Definitions

A reusable menstrual pad (or, sometimes, pantyliner) made from durable cloth materials and other absorbent fabrics, such as cotton, hemp, polyester and polyurethane laminate.

Examples

“In addition to environmental reasons and the fears of dioxin and TSS, Slayton and others believe cloth pads reduce the incidence of vaginal irritation, yeast and bladder infections.”
“For many reasons, including comfort, environmental concerns such as a preference for reusable products, and worries about chemical residues, many of us use modified or alternative products to collect menstrual blood. These include all-cotton (sometimes organic) chlorine-free tampons, chlorine-free disposable pads, washable cloth pads, and devices that collect rather than absorb the menstrual fluid.”
“From this small practical lab evolved the length, width & thickness of the first cloth pad - MY Pad. For many of us in the cities, the design of a sanitary pad would automatically bring up images of a market pad but for these women a basic pad they were familiar with was ready.”
