Definitions

1. The fee charged by an attorney for work done in relation to a lawsuit or other work done by an attorney.
2. An amount set by a court to be awarded to a prevailing party based on the reasonable fee that their attorney should have charged, based on the length and complexity of the case.

“In March 2017, the judge appointed a special master — the former federal judge Gerald E. Rosen — to look into the appropriateness of the fee package, including the issues of double-counting attorney hours spent on the case and the reasonableness of the rates charged by the lawyers.
