A player-run server or world (most commonly in the context of Minecraft) with virtually no rules, allowing total freedom for actions like hacking, griefing, PvP, stealing, and exploiting, creating a chaotic "wild west" environment where survival is difficult and the goal is often to endure or exploit the lawlessness for personal gain.
Examples
“... the oldest-running “anarchy server,” 2builders2tools (2b2t). This server is essentially a multiplayer Minecraft environment where there are no rules. This anarchy has led to a whole swathe of media coverage and the assertion from at least one participant that “exploring 2b2t is like archaeology. [...] The server has seen Nazi propaganda and cultures of destruction, and it is generally highly nihilistic.”
“The oldest and most infamous anarchy server is 2b2t, which launched not long after Minecraft, in 2010. Now over 20 terabytes in size, its world is a nightmare frontier of deadfalls, lava flows, trashed bases, and hate speech.”
