“كَانَ أَحَبَّ الثِّيَابِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقَمِيصُ”

The most lovely garment to the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was the robe.

“يَا عُثْمَانُ إِنَّهُ لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ يُقَمِّصُكَ قَمِيصًا، فَإِنْ أَرَادُوكَ عَلَى خَلْعِهِ فَلَا تَخْلَعْهُ لَهُمْ”

O ʾUṯmān! It may be that ʾAllāh will [one day] vest you with a robe, and if they ever wish you to take it off, do not take it off for them!

“قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الْإِسْبَالُ فِي الْإِزَارِ، وَالْقَمِيصِ، وَالْعِمَامَةِ مَنْ جَرَّ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا خُيَلَاءَ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ”

Dangling is about lower garments, the robe, and the headdress: whosoever trails along any of these out of self-delusion, ʾAllāh does not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.
