“وَهٰذَا هُوَ حَالُ الْجَهْلِ الْمُرَكَّبِ، فَلَا يَدْخُلُ تَحْتَ تَعْرِيفِ الْعِلْمِ. فَمَنْ يَعْتَقِدُ أَنَّ الْأَرْضَ مُسَطَّحَةٌ لَمْ تَحْضُرْ عِنْدَهُ صُورَةُ النِّسْبَةِ الْوَاقِعِيَّةُ وَهِيَ أَنَّ الْأَرْضَ كُرَوِيَّةٌ، وَإِنَّمَا حَضَرَتْ صُورَةُ نِسْبَةٍ أُخْرَى يَتَخَيَّلُ أَنَّهَا الْوَاقِعُ.”

This is the nature of compounded ignorance, and as such, it does not fall under the definition of knowledge. For example, one who believes that the Earth is flat does not possess a mental image of the actual relationship—which is that the Earth is spherical. Rather, they possess an image of a different relationship entirely, which they merely imagine to be the reality.
